Our director Mari Gonlag came to us in January 2019, but has been involved with The Potter’s Place since “before it was The Potter’s Place.” She was one of the early “regulars” to carry a bag chair into the woods to find solitude and a place to meet with God. She’s been on first the board of advisors, then the board of directors, ever since there was a board. Her career has included pastoral ministry, serving as director of ministerial studies for The Wesleyan Church, and being a professor at Kingswood University and Southern Wesleyan University for a combined 22 years. Her love of hiking and nature, as well as camping and retreat ministries, are a perfect match for the ministry of Psalm 91 at The Potter’s Place and its ongoing development. While you will often find her in the office, she’ll be happy to show you around and tell you stories of the ways God has met with people here at TPP.
Our maintenance director Ted Bashlor is an answer to prayer at The Potter’s Place! Ted and his wife Lori were lifelong residents of Virginia before moving to South Carolina in June 2020 to be near their only daughter, Emily, and their son-in-law Caleb. Ted owned his own construction business for 28 years before taking over as head of maintenance at Parkway Wesleyan Church in Roanoke, Virginia. Ted joined us here at The Potters Place June 1, 2020. Ted and Lori have 2 dogs and love to take them along on their adventures in their Class A RV. Ted is really enjoying his time here in SC and is excited to see what all God has in store for him and for Lori.
